Metal Flower
August 2021
This project marks the first time I ever used a MIG welder. I bent all of the washers and on the first one, I grinded off all of the zinc coating. I then welded the first layer of 3 washers to the stem and kept tacking on one washer after another until I had a little flower. I added a couple "leaves" to finish and then voila! I had some leftover metal, so I made a little stand for the first rose. I also applied a clear powder coat to the first rose to show off the HAZ (heat-affected zone) from welding.
This was a pretty easy project and a good little intro to using a MIG welder.
