Battery Box Infusion Layup
February 2022
The box that holds the batteries in the Cal Poly Racing Team's electric car is made out of carbon fiber panels. A couple people and I did multiple of these infusion layups to create enough panels that when cured, would be water-jetted into the correct shapes and then bonded together.
Chassis Drill Jigs
October 2021
In order to drill precise holes in our formula cars' carbon fiber chassis, we machine drill jigs using MDF wood on manual mills so that we can meet the positional tolerances for each hole, therefore ensuring that the holes on the chassis will accurately line up with the holes on each component.
Clutch Handle
November 2021
Because of a new clutch lever and chassis design, a new clutch handle needed to be machined to attach the lever to the chassis in an appropriate position for the driver. I determined the best dimensions of the part based on the most comfortable and accessible position for the driver. I then machined the steel base plate and tube and TIG welded them together.
Clutch Cable Guide
October 2021
The clutch cable for Cal Poly Racing's Formula combustion car was too small to allow the clutch cable to fully engage, so I utilized SolidWorks to analyze and redesign the existing part and then build a new one using various sheet metal tools in Cal Poly's machine shops.
