About Me

My name is Brienne Berger, and I have a passion for designing, manufacturing, and testing parts, either for work, school, or just for fun.

I currently work as a Mechanical Design Engineer at Kenworth Trucks in Kirkland, WA. In my role, I am primarily responsible for creating packaging layouts for circuits in the thermal management system of a battery electric semi-truck. I also work with my team and suppliers to source components that could be used in these thermal circuits.

I graduated in June 2024 from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo where I earned a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.

As many people in the mechanical engineering field would say: I have had a love for working with my hands ever since I was young, and I am so grateful that I was able to learn so much at Cal Poly while still getting an incredible amount of hands-on experience because of Cal Poly's "Learn by Doing" approach. For over two years, I worked as a Shop Technician (and Welding Supervisor) in the Cal Poly Machine Shops, interacting with fellow students every day, helping them manufacture their school and personal projects while learning an immense amount about design for manufacturability in the process. The creativity I saw in the shops every day was one of my favorite parts of the job, and is still one of the many things that inspires me to keep creating things myself.

I was also heavily involved in Cal Poly Racing Formula SAE during my entire four years at college, and I served as the Driver Controls Lead in 2022-23, and Team Manager in 2023-24. Our team designed, built, tested, and competed one combustion and one electric formula car each year for the international FSAE competition.

In my free time, I enjoy driving and working on my 1997 Mazda Miata, skiing in the Pacific Northwest, playing volleyball, attending concerts, and being with family and friends.
